- There was a legend, in which this puzzle was inspired by, about Brahmin priests who were to move 64 golden disks (not just 8!).
If the legend were true, and if the priests were able to move disks at a rate of one disk per second,

- The puzzle was featured as part of a reward challenge in a 2011 episode of the American version of the Survivor TV series.
